Launching its new tour at the New Wimbledon Theatre on the 21st April, full casting for Footloose has been confirmed.
Joining the previously announced Gareth Gates (Willard) and Maureen Nolan (Vi Moore) will be Joshua Dowen as Ren, Hannah Price as Ariel Moore, Reuven Gershon (Let It Be, West End and Broadway) as Reverend Shaw, Lindsay Goodhand (Crazy For You, Watermill Theatre) as Ethel McCormack, Laura Sillett (Grease, International Tour) as Rusty, Connor Going (The Pirates of Penzance) as Chuck, Emma Fraser (The Vaudevillians, Les Enfants Terribles) as Wendy Jo, Gracie Lai (Avenue Q, UK Tour) as Urleen, Tomas Wolstenhome (Once, West End) as Bickle, Dominic Gee Burch as Jeter and Alex Marshall (Buddy, UK Tour) as Wes. The cast also includes Luke Dowling, Grace Lancaster, Laurence Libor, Jamie Ross and Lauren Storer.
The musical is based on the classic 1984 film starring Kevin Bacon, telling the story of city boy Ren who moves to a rural backwater in America where dancing is banned. But all hell soon breaks loose as Ren soon gets the whole town on their feet and dancing. It features a number of great 1980’s songs including Holding Out for a Hero,Almost Paradise and Let’s Hear it for the Boy.
This production features music by Tom Snow and lyrics by Dean Pitchford and was adapted for the stage by yDean Pitchford and Walter Bobbie. Footloose the Musical is directed by Racky Plews (American Idiot, West End) with choreography by Matthew Cole, design by Sara Perks and musical supervision by Mark Crossland.
Footloose the Musical opens its UK tour at the New Wimbledon Theatre from the 21st April, before travelling to High Wycombe, Richmond, Buxton, Hornchurch, Llandudno, Coventry, Swansea, Bromley, Eastbourne and Basildon, before concluding with a short West End season at the Peacock Theatre from the 12th to the 30th September.
