It has been announced that hit musical Footloose will be heading off on a brand new UK tour in 2016, produced by Sell A Door Theatre Company and Runaway Entertainment.
Based on the 1984 hit film starring Kevin Bacon, Footloose tells the story of city boy Ren who has moved to a rural town in America where dancing is banned. Soon all hell breaks loose as Ren refuses to play by the rules and soon has the whole town up on its feet.
Featuring classic 80’s tracks such as Holding Out for a Hero, Let’s Hear it for the Boy and of course Footloose, the musical is set to get audiences up and dancing once again with its spirit and dazzling dance routines.
Footloose the Musical originally opened on Broadway in 1998, where it ran for 709 performances, with the London production following in 2006 at the Novello Theatre after a UK tour.

It has also been announced that singer Gareth Gates will be playing the role of Willard in this new production directed and choreographed by Racky Plews (American Idiot, West End). Gates has enjoyed a successful stage career, having previously had roles in productions of Les Miserables, Legally Blonde and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.
Further casting for the production has yet to be announced.
Footloose the Musical will feature music by Tom Snow and lyrics by Dean Pitchford who has also helped to adapt it for the stage along with Walter Bobbie.
