Watch: New Video Released Ahead of World Premiere of Bananaman the Musical

A new video has been released ahead of the official opening night of Bananaman the Musical which makes its debut at the Southwark Playhouse.

This new British musical featuring book, music and lyrics by Leon Parris is based on one of the flagship characters in the world’s longest running comic, The Beano.

The most fruity superhero ever to grace the skies is going to make his live action debut in an all-singing, all-flying must-see new musical. Bananaman, the Man-of-Peel, may have a jaw line you can see from space but this superhero has the muscles of 20 men and the brain of 20 mussels. Which isn’t much. With supervillains Doctor Gloom and General Blight attempting world domination, who can we call? Superman’s on holiday, Spiderman’s not picking up – our only option, our very, very last option is… Bananaman.

Directed by Mark Perry, the musical  stars Matthew McKenna as Bananaman, Marc Pickering as Doctor Doom, Jodie Jacobs as Eric’s loyal sidekick, Crow, Mark Newnham as Eric ,Carl Mullaney as General Blight, TJ Lloyd as Chief O’Reilly, Lizzii Hills as Mrs Wimp ,Brian Gilligan as Mad Magician ,Emma Ralston as Fiona with Chris McGuigan and  Amy Perry in the Ensemble.

The production also features choreography by Grant Murphy,  set and costume design by Mike Leopold and is produced by Sightline Entertainment in association with Cahoots Theatre Company and Beano Studios.

Bananaman the Musical will play at the Southwark Playhouse  until the 20th January 2018. For more information visit: http://southwarkplayhouse.co.uk/show/bananaman/
