Love London Love Culture’s Christmas Activity Picks 2022

Looking for a way to get into the Christmas spirit this year? (yes we know its still November but there is no harm in being prepared is there?) Here’s a few ideas on how to amuse yourselves in London….

Pay a visit to The Curling Club: have some fun with friends at the curling club now open at the Southbank Centre as part of its Winter festival and get involved with this Winter Olympic sport set in Alpine settings with plenty of entertainment also available to ensure a good night is had be all! Alpine inspired food and drink is also available to ensure you have that perfect cosy winter feeling. ( 1st November 2022 until 3rd January 2023)

Go and see Elf the Musical at the Dominion Theatre: everyone’s favourite Elf is back in town! The musical based on the popular film starring Will Ferrell is back in London to spread the festive cheer from today (4th November). Starring Simon Lipkin and Georgina Castle, this is set to be plenty of fun for the whole family. Check out our interview with Georgina Castle here.

A Christmas Carol, Old Vic Theatre: Matthew Warchus’s production returns once more to the London Theatre, with Owen Teale playing the iconic role of Scrooge. This critically acclaimed production based on Charles Dickens’s classic festive story is playing until the 7th January 2023.

Winter Wonderland, Hyde Park: open from the 18th November until the 2nd January, this annual festive festival has something for everyone! Whether it is enjoying a ride, tasting some of the best street food around or taking in some entertainment, this is one of the biggest ways in which to help get into the Christmas spirit!

Cosy up with a festive film thanks to Backyard Cinema: get transported into a cosy winter wonderland and enjoy a one of your favourite Christmas films thanks to Backyard cinema. This year, the company will whisk you away on an Arctic voyage that gets you following the stars to the Northern Lights and get you warm and cosy while enjoying films such as Elf, Home Alone and Love Actually. Based in Wandsworth, there is food and drink available to purchase, allowing you to just sit back and enjoy the film!

Dolly Parton’s Smokey Mountain Christmas Carol, Southbank Centre: from the 8th December, catch the European premiere of this reimagined version of A Christmas Carol which is set to star Robert Bathurst, who will play Scrooge in the production. He will be joined by Halle Brown, Iona Fraser, Richard J Hunt, Vicki Lee Taylor and Olivier Award winner George Maguire. With music and lyrics by Dolly Parton, what is not to love?

Pay a visit to Vinegar Yard and book a winter dome: situated next to London Bridge, Vinegar Yard terrace will be transformed into an Aprés-Ski haven, with four heated igloos throughout the festive season. Snuggle on a cosy sofa with a round of street food and warming winter drinks and enjoy the views!
