The film is set to head to cinemas in July 2023.

A brand new teaser trailer has been released for Greta Gerwig’s (Little Women, Ladybird) latest film which brings the doll (which was originally launched in 1959) to life and will head to cinemas in 2023.

This new trailer gives us the first look at Margot Robbie in the role of Barbie, with the rest of the cast set to include: Ryan Gosling as Ken as well as Will Ferrell, Issa Rae, Kate McKinnon, Simu Liu, Michael Cera, America Ferrera, Ncuti Gatwa, Emerald Fennell, Rhea Perlman and Kingsley Ben-Adir.

This new satirical film has been written by Greta Gerwig, alongside Noah Baumbach, having previously collaborated on scripts for Frances Ha and Mistress America.

Barbie has been a long time in the making, having originally been the works in 2015 with Oscar-winning Juno screenwriter Diablo Cody before it moved to Amy Schumer in 2016 who was set to star and co-write. Anne Hathaway was also set to star in the title role, before Margot Robbie landed the role.

This film is set to be followed by another Mattel adaptation, a take on Polly Pocket written and directed by Lena Dunham and starring Lily Collins.

Other creatives involved with this film include: music by Alexandre Desplat, cinematography by Rodrigo Prieto and costume design by Jacqueline Durran.
