NEWS: Bridget Jones is to Return in New Film

The latest film is set to be released in American cinemas on Valentine’s Day 2025, with a UK release date yet to be confirmed.

It has been confirmed that a fourth film about the much loved character Bridget Jones will be heading to cinema screens next year.

Titled Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, the film will see Renée Zellweger return as the title role as well as Hugh Grant as the roguish Daniel Cleaver and Emma Thompson. Meanwhile newcomers to the cast are set to include Chiwetel Ejiofor and The White Lotus’s Leo Woodall.

Based on the 2013 novel by Helen Fielding, this latest instalment follows Bridget’s life as she navigates being a single mother and widow, work and life.

This film is set to be directed by Michael Morris, who helmed the Andrea Riseborough drama To Leslie. Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner and Jo Wallett are producing through Working Title Films, while the company’s Amelia Granger and Sarah-Jane Wright executive produce. Fielding will also executive produce the project. 

Bridget Jones first appeared on our screens in 2001, which earned Renée Zellweger an Oscar nomination for her performance. The sequel Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason was released in 2004, with the third instalment Bridget Jones’s Baby was released in 2016.
