The festival is set to open from the 28th August until the 7th September.
It has been announced that Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is set to have its world premiere at this year’s Venice Film Festival on the 28th August.
The sequel to the 1988 film starring Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton is set 36 years after the original story, with the cast also including Jenna Ortega as Astrid Deetz, the daughter of Ryder’s character Lydia Deetz and Monica Bellucci appearing as Beetlejuice’s ex-wife Delores. They are joined by Willem Defoe as Wolf Jackson and Justin Theroux as Rory.
This new film will see Beetlejuice return to cause as much chaos as possible in the wake of the death of Lydia’s father Charles, forcing her and the family to confront the character who terrorised them once again.
The film has been written by the Neflix series Wednesday showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, while score featured in the film has once again been created by Danny Elfman. The costumes have been designed by Colleen Atwood and cinematography is by Haris Zambarloukos.
Talking about the news, Venice Film Festival Director Alberto Barbera said it “marks the long-awaited return of one of the most iconic characters of Tim Burton’s cinema, but also the happy confirmation of the extraordinary visionary talent and the masterly realisation of one of the most fascinating auteurs of his time”.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is set to be released in cinemas on the 6th September.
