NEWS: Initial Casting Announced For The Producers at the Menier Chocolate Factory

This revival of Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan’s musical will run at the theatre from the 26th November.

The Menier Chocolate Factory has announced initial casting for its upcoming revival of The Producers, which will officially open at the theatre on the 9th December.

With tickets on sale now, it has been announced that Andy Nyman (Fiddler on the Roof – Menier, Hello Dolly – London Palladium and creator of Ghost Stories), Marc Antolin (The Band’s Visit – Donmar Warehouse, and Emma Rice’s Romantics Anonymous), Harry Morrison (Beetlejuice – international tour, and The Third Man and Assassins for the Menier) and Joanna Woodward (The Time Traveller’s Wife: The Musical – Apollo Theatre, and Merrily We Roll Along for the Menier) will lead the cast. They will be joined by  Charis Alexandra, Michael Franks, Matt Gillett, Leah Harris, Hana Ichijo, Esme Kennedy, Josh Kiernan, Alex Lodge, Kelsie-Rae Marshall, and Chloe Saunders.

Featuring music and lyrics by Mel Brooks and a book by Brooks and Thomas Meehan, the musical follows the mishaps and adventures of two Broadway producers as they try and fast-track their way to fortune by creating the worst Broadway musical in history.

It is based on the hit film, with the original Broadway production winning a record of 12 Tony Awards.

This major revival of The Producers is directed by Patrick Marber and will feature choreography by Lorin Latarro. The creative team also includes: set design by Scott Pask; costume design by Paul Farnsworth; lighting design by Richard Howell; sound design by Niamh Gaffney & Terry Jardine for Autograph; musical supervision by Gareth Valentine;  musical direction by Matthew Samer and orchestrations by Larry Blank & Mark Cumberland.
