The newly announced cast will appear in the West End production from the 8th September until the 1st November.
It has been announced that for eight weeks only to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the musical in the West End, a special company of performers drawn from the West End, international, film and arena world tour casts will star in the production at the Sondheim Theatre.
From the 8th September, the cast will include: Killian Donnelly as Jean Valjean, with Bradley Jaden as Javert, Katie Hall as Fantine, Jac Yarrow as Marius, Shan Ako as Éponine, Jordan Shaw as Enjolras and Beatrice Penny-Touré as Cosette. Adam Gillen will appear as Thénardier and Marina Prior as Madame Thénardier. Ian McIntosh will also perform the role of Jean Valjean at certain performances.
The company will also include: Hollie Aires, Aidan Banyard, Nicholas Carter, Ella May Carter, Matthew Dale, Irfan Damani, Lila Falce-Bass, Sophie-May Feek, Jessica Johns-Parsons, Seán Keany, Chris Kiely, Sam Kipling, Mia Lamb, Sarah Lark, Ollie Llewelyn-Williams, Matthew McConnell, Aaron-Jade Morgan, Adam Pearce, William Pennington, Jordan Simon Pollard, Lewis Renninson, Danielle Rose, Georgia Tapp, Noah Thallon, Imaan Victoria, and Danny Whelan.
Talking about the news, producer Cameron Mackintosh explains: “In celebration of our 40th birthday, I have put together, as I have always done for major celebrations, a special cast for eight weeks only, drawn from the outstanding performers of the last decade’s international productions of Les Mis, as well as the current Arena Spectacular and the Oscar-winning movie, all of whom have emerged as new theatre stars. This will be the last time that they will all be able to play together in Les Mis as their careers take them onto new stellar paths.”
The musical is based on the novel by Victor Hugo and features Schönberg, lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer and original French text by Boublil and Jean-Marc Natel, additional material by James Fenton and adaptation by Trevor Nunn and John Caird.
It features orchestrations by Stephen Metcalfe, Christopher Jahnke and Stephen Brooker with original orchestrations by John Cameron. The production is directed by James Powell and Laurence Connor, designed by Matt Kinley inspired by the paintings of Victor Hugo with costumes by Andreane Neofitou, Christine Rowland and Paul Wills, lighting by Paule Constable, sound by Mick Potter, projections realised by Finn Ross and Fifty Nine Productions, musical staging by Geoffrey Garratt, and music supervision by Stephen Brooker and Alfonso Casado Trigo.
