NEWS: Broadway’s Chess Revival to Play at the Imperial Theatre

It has been announced that the Broadway revival of the musical will play at the Imperial Theatre on Broadway from the 15th October 2025 and booking until the 15th March 2026.

Officially opening in Broadway on the 16th November, this revival of Chess is set to star  Tony Award winner Aaron Tveit (Moulin Rouge), Emmy Award nominee Lea Michele (Funny Girl) and Nicholas Christopher (Sweeney Todd) with further casting to be announced.

The musical follows the story of a Cold War-era chess tournament between an American and a Soviet. As well as a score by Andersson, Ulvaeus and Tim Rice, this production of the musical will include a new book by Danny Strong.

Chess was originally released as a concept album in 1984, going on to have a three year run in the West End. This is the first Broadway revival of the musical, where it ran in 1988 for two months.

This production will feature  choreography by Lorin Latarro and music supervision by Brian Usifer. Further creative team have yet to be announced.
