The revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice’s rock musical will play at the iconic London theatre from the 20th June until the 5th September 2026.

Lead casting has announced for Tim Sheader’s production after he previously presented the show at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in 2016 and 2017.
Set to star as Jesus in the production will be Sam Ryder, who will be making his official West End debut in the musical, which features songs such as Gethsemane”, “Heaven on their Minds” and “I Don’t Know How To Love Him”.
Talking about the news the singer said: “I’m so excited to be part of one of the biggest institutions in musical theatre the world’s ever known, at The London Palladium in the West End! I’m honoured to take on this responsibility as I follow in the footsteps of rock vocal titans like Ian Gillan and John Farnham. I can’t wait to immerse myself in the word of Jesus Christ Superstar in 2026.”
Further casting will be announced soon.
First released as a concept album, the musical tells the story of the final weeks of Jesus’s life, focusing on his relationship with Judas Iscariot. It premiered on Broadway in 1971, before premiering in the West End the following year.
Jesus Christ superstar was last seen in London at the Barbican Theatre in 2019, with a regional tour in 2024 and a recent actor-musician revival at the Watermill Theatre in Newbury.
The creative team behind the London Palladium production includes: designer Tom Scutt, choreographer Drew McOnie, musical supervisor Tom Deering, lighting designer Lee Curran, sound designer Adam Fisher, fight director Kate Waters and BAFTA Award-winning casting director David Grindrod.
Tickets are set to go on general sale on the 26th November at 10am.
