The world premiere production will begin performances in spring 2026 and run for a strictly limited season.
Lead casting has now been announced for the upcoming New York premiere of Beaches, a brand new musical based on New York Times bestselling novel by Iris Rainer and film that starred Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey.
The news of the Broadway transfer, follows the show’s international premiere in 2024 at Theatre Calgary in Alberta, Canada.
It has been confirmed that Jessica Vosk (Hell’s Kitchen, Wicked) & Kelli Barrett (FX TV’s Fosse/Verdon, Parade) as Cee Cee and Bertie, with further casting to be confirmed.
With tickets going on sale in January, previews for the the Broadway run will begin on the 27th March at the Majestic Theatre, where the musical will play until the 6th September.
Beaches: A New Musical follows two extraordinary friends through 30 years of camaraderie, laughter, sorrow and love. Vivacious, outlandish Cee Cee and beautiful, privileged Bertie meet as children and become fast friends. From pen-pals to roommates to romantic rivals, Cee Cee and Bertie’s oil-and-water friendship perseveres through even the most tragic trials. With a touching vulnerability, Beaches: A New Musical exemplifies the triumph of the human spirit and the bonds of sisterhood.
The musical will be co-directed by Tony Award nominee and Emmy Award winner Lonny Price and Matt Cowart, with choreography by Jennifer Rias. Meanwhile, the creative team is also set to include: orchestrations by Tony Award winner Charlie Rosen, set design by Drama Desk Award winner James Noone, costumes by Tracy Christensen, lighting by Tony Award winner Ken Billington, sound by Tony Award winner Kai Harada, projection design by Tony Award nominee David Bengali, wig, hair & make-up design by J. Jared Janas, casting by The TRC (Tara Rubin Casting) Company, Peter Van Dam, CSA, and musical supervision by Joseph Thalken.
