NEWS: Casting Confirmed for Joshua Harmon’s ‘We Had A World’

It has been announced that Suzanne Bertish, Anna Francolini and Ryan Kopel will star in the UK premiere of We Had A World, which will officially open at the Hampstead Theatre on the 8th June.

Directed by Josh Seymour, Joshua Harman’s play brings to life his childhood in New York caught between his hilariously eccentric but indomitable grandmother and his mother. Along the way as he traces the family’s relationships, he uncovers their secrets, revealing thirty years of family fights, monstrous behaviour, enormous cruelty and enduring love.

The production will see Olivier Award-winning and Tony Award-nominated Suzanne Bertish (Troilus & Cressida, RSC; Star Wars: Andor) play Renee; Anna Francolini (London Road, National Theatre; Sex Education, Netflix) play Ellen and Ryan Kopel (The Inheritance, Young Vic; Dear Evan Hansen, UK tour) plays Joshua.

Joshua Harmon’s plays include Bad Jews, which played three sold out West End seasons, Admissions and the Tony Award-nominated Prayer for the French Republic.

Meanwhile director Josh Seymour is making his Hampstead Theatre debut, with his recent productions including Ragdoll (Jermyn Street Theatre) and That Face (Orange Tree).

The creative team behind the production will also include: design by Sarah Beaton, lighting design by Joshua Gadsby and sound design by Lex Kosanke. The movement director is Ingrid Mackinnon, the fight director is Bethan Clark, the dialect coach is Aundrea Fudge and voice coach Tess Dignan.
