The UK premiere of the musical will open at the Pitlochry Festival Theatre season from 7 -17 October as part of Alan Cuming’s first season as artistic director at the theatre.
Casting has now been confirmed for Ceilidh the musical which arrives in the UK following its North American season.
Written by Scottish duo Scott Gilmour and Claire McKenzie and co-produced by Alan Cumming the show is set to star Scott Gilmour as Ramsay, Kyle Gardiner as Alternate Ramsay, David Rankine as Leo, Kirsty Findlay as Euna, George Drennan as Older Leo, Annie Grace as Older Euna/Lady Buchanan/Moira, Star Penders as Granny Maclavaney/Maria, Rori Hawthorn as Rowan, Jerome Lincoln as Lucas, Laura Lovemore as Yvonne, Charlie West as Fiddles/Duncan the Stout/Darren, Harry Ward as Dave/Lord Buchanan, Leo Shak as Ensemble, Elinor Peregrin as Ensemble, Helen Logan as Ensemble and Robin MacKenzie as Piper/Ensemble.
CEILIDH is a brand new musical that invites you to step into the heart of one of Scotland’s oldest and most beloved traditions. It’s a gathering of songs, stories and dances, all while sharing a dram or two along the way.
Led by a lively caller, you’ll be swept up in a whirlwind of music and memories from the moment you walk through the door. But as the music builds and the night takes hold, a story begins to unfold. A family story. One of love, legacy, and why tonight’s ceilidh matters more than most.
Following its run in Scotland the musical will then travel to: London’s Shoreditch Town Hall from 23 October to 13 November, High Wycombe Old Town Hall from 18 to 22 November, Eastbourne Winter Gardens from 24 to 29 November, Fareham Live from 1 to 5 December and Brighton Dome Corn Exchange from 15 to 20 December.
The tour will then continue at Guildford G Live from 29 December to 2 January 2027, Edinburgh Corn Exchange from 4 to 9 January, Aberdeen Music Hall from 19 to 23 January and Dundee Caird Hall from 25 to 29 January.
Ceilidh will then return to Shoreditch Town Hall from 2 to 26 February, followed by Bradford Ballroom from 2 to 7 March, Glasgow Barrowland from 13 to 15 March and Liverpool St George’s Hall from 23 to 27 March.
The show is directed and choreographed by Tony Award-winner Sam Pinkleton (Oh! Mary.) who said: “There is absolutely nothing like CEILIDH. This brand-new musical features an original book, music and lyrics by acclaimed Scottish duo Scott Gilmour and Claire McKenzie (Noisemaker). Formed in 2012, Noisemaker have written, developed and produced over 20 new works as a partnership.
