The full cast for Footloose: the Musical  which will bursting back onto stages across the UK in 2016 has been announced today.

Touring in theatres across the uk from January 2016, Maureen Nolan joins the cast to take on the role of Vi Moore and joins the previously announced Gareth Gates as Willard.

Maureen Nolan is best known for having sung with her sisters since she was nine years old and whose most famous hit is I’m in the Mood for Dancing. Her previous stage credits include playing the role of Mrs Johnstone in Blood Brothers in the West End.

The previously announced Gareth Gates will be playing the role of Willard from the 29th January to the 16th April, before returning to the role on the 20th June. He rose to fame on the television programme Pop Idol and has had a successful career on stage with roles in Les Miserables, Legally Blonde and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. 

Luke Baker will also be joining the cast as Ren McCormack, the role immortalised on screen by Kevin Bacon. He is about to finish his role as Theo in American Idiot in the West End.

The cast also features Hannah Price as Ariel Moore, Nigel Lister as Reverend Shaw Moore, Nicky Swift as Ethel McCormack, Joanna Sawyer as Rusty, Matthew Tomlinson as Chuck, Natasha Brown as Wendy-Jo, Miracle Chance as Urleen and Scott Haining as Bickie. The cast will also include Lauren Storer, Natalie Morton-Graham, Luke Thornton and Alex Marshall.

Based on the hit 1984 film starring Kevin Bacon, Footloose: The Musical tells the story of city boy Ren, who has to move to a rural backwater in America where dancing is banned. All hell breaks out as Ren breaks loose and soon has the whole town up on its feet. It features classic 80s hits including Holding Out for a Hero, Almost Paradise, Let’s Hear it for the Boy and of course the unforgettable title track.

Footloose has been adapted for the stage by Dean Pitchford and Walter Bobbie. It is directed by Racky Plews (American Idiot, West End) with choreography by Matthew Cole, design by Sara Perks and musical supervision by Mark Crossland.
