Based on the classic 1984 film, Footloose: the Musical will arrive at the New Victoria Theatre from the 18th to the 23rd July.
Footloose: The Musical follows the story of Ren who has had to move to a rural backwater town in America where dancing is banned. But soon all hell breaks loose as Ren encourages people in the town to get on their feet and dance. It features a great soundtrack which includes the songs Holding Out for a Hero, Almost Paradise and Let’s Hear it for the Boy.
The production features music by Tom Snow and lyrics by Dean Pitchford, and is adapted for the stage by Dean Pitchford and Walter Bobbie. It is directed and choreographed by Racky Plews (American Idiot, West End).
This high energy musical stars Gareth Gates as Willard and Maureen Nolan as Vi Moore. The cast also includes Hannah Price as Ariel Moore,Nigel Lister as Reverend Shaw Moore, Nicky Swift as Ethel McCormack, Joanna Sawyer as Rusty, Matthew Tomlinson as Chuck, Natasha Brown as Wendy-Jo,Miracle Chance as Urleen, Thomas Cotran as Jeter and Scott Haining as Bickie.
Gareth Gates rose to fame through the first series of Pop Idol in 2001, reaching the final with Will Young. His previous stage credits include Les Misérables, Legally Blonde and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Maureen Nolan is best known for being part of the Nolan Sisters group and has appeared on stage in Blood Brothers.
