The Guardian: ** “This exhibition could have been a fascinating exploration of British links with impressionism, for those links do exist, though they are not made here.”

The Times: *** “This show documents an artistic diaspora but lacks a coherent argument.”

Evening Standard: “Despite this magnificent coda, I left angry. Why gather this exceptional group of Monets from across the world and not actually tell the story of Impressionism in London?”

The Telegraph: *** “In short, this is a curious, split-personality exhibition, padded out instead of being tailored to its subject.”

The Independent: *** “How do you pull a crowd? By the gentle art of deception. Be warned then: the main title of this exhibition is a gross misrepresentation of its contents.”

Time Out: *** ” It’s two different shows: ‘Impressionists in London’ and ‘French Artists in Exile’, and it manages to half-arse them both. Even if you love nineteenth-century art as much as I do, this show’s vision of it is far too clouded and smoggy to ever be any good.”

The Upcoming: *** “It’s a slightly frustrating exhibition; there is so much here to like and appreciate, and yet it feels as if it’s been padded out with work of lesser quality and relevance.”

Culture Whisper: *** “It would seem impossible to make the Impressionists dull. But, despite flashes of brilliance, it seems Tate Britain has sadly achieved this with flying colours.”

The EY Exhibition: Impressionists in London is on display at Tate Britain from the 2nd November until the 7th May 2018. For more information and to book tickets visit: http://www.tate.org.uk/whats-on/tate-britain/exhibition/ey-exhibition-impressionists-london
