The singer’s third studio album is filled with passion and heart, mixing a range of musical tones to great effect.

Goodness this is an album that is filled with treats galore, structured in a way that keeps the listener guessing as to which direction it will take next.
Beginning with the vibrant sounding ‘I’ll Always Be Your Girl’, which while musically has positive tones to it, there is a more serious side to lyrically in which it explores a relationship that has gone toxic. It is a great way to start an album that highlights conflicting emotions – particularly when in a pleasing way the album is structurally all over the place.
There is a boldness and willingness to mix genres and to experiment with the music that ensures that there is plenty to enjoy on the record from start to finish. Particular stand out tracks include the hauntingly soulful ‘There’s Always More That I Could Say’ that highlights just how versatile Sigrid’s vocals are, while in contrast ‘Have You Heard This Song Before’ is simply joyous and pushes the genre of pop to the extreme.
Elsewhere, songs such as ‘Jellyfish’ and ‘Do it Again’ have clearly designed to ensure that anyone listening will want to get up on the dancefloor. The range of different genres that are incorporated into these particular songs is impressive and make sure it keeps the album interesting.
But the way in which it flips between the joy of love to hate, captured in particular ‘Fort Knox’ which soars passionately both lyrically and musically in perfect harmony. There is a real rawness to the lyrics that are relatable in the way we would do anything to protect ourselves emotionally in the wake of heartbreak. Here in particular you get a sense that Sigrid is singing right from her very soul.
While the whole album is a real rollercoaster emotionally, it concludes with the wonderful slow-burning ‘Eternal Sunshine’ which builds to a glorious climax, bringing the album to a very satisfying conclusion.
Overall, ‘There’s Always More That I Could Say’ is bold, brave and a treat to listen to over the 30 minute running time. It showcases an artist who will certainly continue to push her talents in new and unexpected ways – it will be interesting to see what she does next.
